Linus Bellard, Sr. was born July 28, 1938 to the late Jack and Alphonsine Bellard in Church Point, Louisiana. He was the 5th child born to this union. Linus came to know the Lord at a very young age at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church of Church Point, La. He was raised in Church Point, Louisiana and attended Mother of Mercy Catholic School. He later moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana and became a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Linus work history began at the City of Lake Charles and became a member of the local 207 and then retired from Hi-Mount Refinery.
In the late 1959, Linus met the love of his life Gertrude Gallien and without a doubt he knew she was the one for him. They were united in matrimony on July 30, 1960 and to this blessed union three children were born Lisa Bellard Frank, Linus Bellard, Jr. and Denise Bellard Bean.
Linus was loved by all; he was the patriarch of many families. Linus was known to be the "GLUE" that held his family and extended family together. Linus was a humble, meek and mild, compassionate and giving person. He had a love for his horse "Pepper" and took care of him just like his own children. Linus enjoyed cooking and sitting on the porch listening to his radio. Linus had a number of nicknames such as "Boggy; Bo-boy; T-Cot; but the name that stood out and will always be remembered by all is "SWEET" which describe him best.
God saw a solider struggling here on earth and called Linus home on May 22, 2014 at 10:03 am. He is proceeded in death by his son Linus Bellard, Jr.; his parents Jack and Alphonsine Bellard; two sisters Josephine Bellard and Celestine Guidry; three brothers Ernest Bellard, Thomas Bellard and Joseph Felix Bellard.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 53 years Gertrude, his loving daughter Lisa Frank of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Denise (Garry) Bean of Katy, Texas; two sisters Gertie and Virgie Bellard of Church Point, Louisiana; two brothers Zachary (Stine) Bellard of Kenner, Louisiana and Joseph O''Neal Bellard of Church Point, Louisiana; three granddaughters Ashley (Jerry) Willams of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, Dominque Latigue of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Taylor Bean of Katy, Texas; two grandsons Michael McKenzie Frank of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Landon Bean of Katy, Texas; five great grandchildren Kaitlyn Smith, Bailey Williams, Hayden Smith, Kason Frank and Briley Williams all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; five Godchildren: Diane Bellard, Darlene Joubert, Conrad Bellard, Barbara Guillory and Keisha Landry Sterling. He was also loved and cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Service date: May 31, 2014
Funeral will be at 11am Saturday, May 31, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5pm to 9pm Friday, May 30, in Combre Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday morning at 9am in Combre Funeral Home.
