Lionel Howard Taylor was called to his heavenly home on July 13, 2023. He was born on December 24, 1949, to the late Lenos Taylor and Catherine Aaron.

He was a graduate of W. O. Boston High School and attended Southern University. Lionel later served his country as a member of the United States Army for two years and was honorably discharged.

Following his discharge from the military, he was employed by Lykes Steamship Co., LNG and Calcasieu Parish School Board. Lionel had a love for the cowboy culture and zydeco music. He also enjoyed officiating sports.

In his early years of life, he was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and later became a member of Covenant Baptist Church where he was active in the Prison Ministry.

He is survived by his loving family which includes three sons (Lionel Taylor Jr., Darrell Taylor, and Ryan Taylor); two grandsons (Daius Taylor and Grayson Taylor); three granddaughters (Aniah Taylor, Rhianna Taylor and Akeah Taylor); three nephews (Andre Rand, Derek Pete and Terence Pete); three great-grandchildren (Evelyn Taylor, Bishop Taylor and Aaronson Taylor); and one sister Carolyn Mcintyre). He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends to remember him.
