Lonnie "Slim Pickens was born June 9, 1945 in Homer, Louisiana. He was called to eternal rest on October 31, 2023.

Lonnie worked for Gulf Coast Aluminum Plant for many years, and also assisted his late father in their family carpet  business that was well known in Lake Charles.

Lonnie's family and friends called him by his nicknames, "Lionel", and "Slim". He was well known as a legend in his time.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his fiancé' Brenda Woods, three children, Kevin Pickens of Lake Charles, La., Omeka (Carlton) Goodly of Alanta, Ga., Tuwana Montgomery Smith of Port Arthur, Tx. Three sisters, Pearl Modest, Muriel Marie Pickens, and Deborah (Jimmy) Jones, two brothers James (Karen) Pickens Sr., Rodney (Amanda) Pickens, five grandkids, and three great grandkids.

Lonnie was proceded in death by his parents Mervin Dansby Pickens and Dennis Pickens, as well as his brother Willie James Pickens, and sister Linda Ann Pickens Brooks, paternal grandparents John and Minnie Pickens, maternal grandparents Frank Aruthur and Madglee Dansby, and a host of nieces and nephews.
