LAKE CHARLES – Lora Beatrice Jones Buchanan was born in Lake Charles, LA on October 9, 1940 to the union of Casey Jones, Sr. and Willie Mae Hilbert Jones.

Lora was baptized on May 11, 1952 by the late Rev. W.C. Crowner at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.  She was a 1959 graduate of W.O. Boston High School where she met and later married Lee V. Buchanan.  They were blessed with 3 sons.  Lora was a member of Mt. Pilgrim for 60 years.  She served faithfully on the Usher Board, Tape Ministry, Radio Ministry and the Food Giveaway Ministry.   Lora was a faithful member of Sunday School Class #4 and the W.M.U.  She was also former Announcing Secretary.  Lora was preceded in death by her parents Casey Sr. and Willie Mae Jones, one son Jerome Keith Buchanan, maternal grandparents George and Carrie Hilbert, Paternal Grandparents Algee and Lola Jones, Godparents Clarence and Rachal Jackson, sister-in-law Annie Jean Jones of Sacremento, Ca.

She leaves to cherish her memory; 2 sons Marcus (Deidre) Buchanan and Patrick (Cynthia) Buchanan of Houston; one sister Marlene Jones of Lake Charles; 5 brothers of Casey (Loraine) Jones Jr. of Norfolk, VA, George (Jean) Jones and Willie Jones of Sacremento, CA, Ronald Jones of Lake Charles and Curtis (Novena) Jones of Little Rock, AR.  3 grandchildren Jerome, Jaylin and Desiree and one great grandchild Christopher.

Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 18, in Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.  The Rev. Freddie Brown will officiate.  Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.  Visitation is from 1 p.m. Saturday in the church.  Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.combrefuneralhome.com
