October 31, 1941 – March 26, 2022
Lora Dee Ceasar was born on October 31, 1941 to the late Antonia Johnson and James Callihan in Bunkie, LA. At the young age of 13, the family relocated to Lake Charles, LA.
She was reared by her mother and stepfather, Sam Johnson. Lora was a graduate of W. O. Boston High School, Class of 1961. Also in 1961, she united in holy matrimony to Herbert Ceasar, Sr. and to this union they reared six children. After thirty-one years of marriage, they departed, but remained the best of friends until Herbert's demise.
Lora work journey began with the Headstart program. She also worked as a Beautician before going to work in the retail world for approximately twenty years. Afterwards she returned to her passion of taking care of children in a daycare setting. After retirement she just enjoyed life as our Mother, the best Grandmother, and a better Great Grandmother who was filled with so much Love. She was a member of the Classy Ladies Social Club. The memories are forever!'
She was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for thirty years. She later decided to rejoin her Baptist faith becoming a member of New Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Lawrence Miller where she worked diligently in the Mission Department, Choir, and her passion the Kitchen Ministry. Sis. Lora was an awesome cook. Her kitchen was where she shared her riches and love for people through food.
Her memories will live on through the lives of her children, Rachel Metoyer (David) of Alexandria, LA, Connie Jackson and Linda Davis (Terry) both of Lake Charles, LA, Jeffery Ceasar of Channelview, TX, and John Joubert (Patrese) of Jacksonville, FL; daughter-in-law, Kim Ceasar and three sister-in-laws. Also thirteen wonderful grandchildren, twelve beautiful great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonia Johnson and James Callihan; three brothers, James, Sidney, and Felton (Goose); one son, Herbert Ceasar, Jr.
