Obituary

Lou Anna Guillory Jean, 73, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, departed this life on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. She was born in Swords, Louisiana on February 21, 1939 to the late Odelia Syas and Octave Guillory.Lou Anna worked at Firestone Polymers for many years as a Utility Worker. She also worked as a Personal Care Assistant for Dr. C.O. Fredrick. She was later employed in Housekeeping at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital where she retired. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and talking with family and friends on the phone. Lou was a member of the Sacred Heart Ladies Auxiliary and the Zeberettes Social Club. Lou Anna, who was affectionately referred to as Bruce Lou, and was a strong and Christian matriarch to her family. She was loved by many for her generosity and her uncanny sense of humor. The Big Chief, as she referred to herself, was swift to correct and equally as swift to show love and compassion during difficult times. Lou Anna will be remembered mostly for her love of children, the homeless and the elderly. Her life's passion was to help others in their time of need. Lou Anna is preceded in death by her parents, Odelia Gallow and Octave Guillory; her step-father, John Gallow; her beloved brother, Wilbert Guillory and sister-in-law, Nelma Guillory; one son, Farrell Jean, along with five-step sisters and two-step brothers.

Lou Anna is survived by one sister, Maehilda Rougeau; one brother, Norris Rougeau; her children: Marietta Jean, Romaine Jean, Shawn Moncrief and Nicole Moncrief, all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; her grandchildren Odelia (Louis) Sweet of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Montrel Shakur of Houston, Texas, Audrianna Jean, Ashley Jean, Brittany Jean and Stacie Jean, all of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Combre Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Combre Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with The Very Reverend Marcus Johnson officiating. Entombment will follow the funeral at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
