IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louanna
August
June 25, 1937 – August 6, 2025
Lou Anna Griffith August was born on June 25, 1937, in Lake Charles, LA to Ophelia Freddie Griffith and Clifford Griffith Sr., where she was the fourth child out of twelve. She was raised in the catholic faith and was a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
She attended 2nd Ward Elementary and graduated from High School at W.O. Boston, Class of 1955. Lou Anna spent most of her career working at St. Patrick's hospital. She began as a Nurse's Aide and advanced to Ward Clerk in Unit 31, where she retired after 34 years.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Clarence August, and together they shared 60 years of a beautiful marriage that was grounded in faith, family and love. She was a loving and devoted wife that made sure dinner was on the table every night when Clarence returned home from work. Little did she know, Clarence would also stop by his parents' house and have dinner there every day too. They had a fun and loving marriage that their children aspired to have as well. They attended the 4pm Mass together every Saturday and arrived two hours early to begin praying the rosary and praying for their loved ones.
She was the beloved mother of three children, Roderick August, Debbie (late, Joseph) LaFleur and Todd (Tuwanna) August.
Lou Anna was the cherished and admired grandmother of Latasha (Marvin) Chavis, Angelica (Anthony) Aaron, Alexandrea (Jonathon) Durgin, Tyler August, Jared LaFleur and Tori August. Adoring great-grandmother to Kaden, Kaitlyn, Kylah, Micah, Amare', Sariah, Keima, Syncere and Aria. (Babies Averie and Micah Joseph on the way.) She is also survived by two sisters, Rita Guidry and Sylvania (August) Fontenot, two sisters-in-law Petrella Griffith and Shirley August and two brothers-in-law, Warren and Sterling (Bernadette) August.
More than anything in the world, she loved her family and having them over for Sunday dinners and holidays. She loved feeding her family and sharing her ways of preparing certain dishes. Anyone that had her pork roast, gumbo, turkey salad or macaroni and cheese knew that it was prepared with love. Even her famous cabbage soup was delicious. And her sweets like pecan candy and fudge must be mentioned. Granny did it all.
Lou Anna was dearly loved and will be eternally missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Clifford and Ophelia Griffith, her husband Clarence August, son-in-law Jospeh Lafleur and siblings: Clifford Griffith Jr., Herbert Griffith, Donald Griffith, Laura Rivera, Ruby Jolivette, Alberta Delahoussaye and Wanda Darbonne.
Her visitation will be Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 8:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., with her funeral following at 11:00 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
