Her Life, Her Legacy
Louvenia Reed Semien was born September 13, 1943, to the parentage of the late Gracie and Sanders Reed in Lake Charles, LA. She attended and was a graduate of W.O Boston High School class of 1963, in Lake Charles, La. She met and married Shelton Frank Semien on January 2, 1965, and to this union five children were born. Her loving husband remained faithfully committed and devoted his life to providing and caring for her until her death.
She was baptized and gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of Church of God and Christ and she later joined Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was at church every Sunday, holiday, and holy day of obligation, and she made sure that her family was there as well.
Louvenia was a homemaker who took pride in loving her family. She was beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, and all of her life she strived to ensure that her family had what they needed to be happy, healthy, and whole.
She was a wonderful counselor and available day or night to talk to you through any situation, good, or bad. She may not have told you what you wanted to hear but she would tell you what you needed to hear, and she most definitely wasn't going to sugarcoat anything.
She was also very talented cook, seamstress, and gardener. She enjoyed swimming, baking homemade cakes and pies, and making pecan candy. She will be most remembered by the care and love she poured into and showed to others.
