OBITUARY

"The Cheerful heart has a continual feast". PROVERBS 15:15

Lucien left the world of mortality and entered into the everlasting life of immortality on April 21, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. Since June 24, 1944, Lucien acquired and maintained throughout his seventy-nine years a cheerful heart and a friendly and humble disposition which he imparted to everyone in his presence. Those qualities were infectious, and he shared a continual feast with those of us fortunate enough to have shared them with him.

Lucien was an innocent and unpretentious soul whose interests and joys were bountiful. He enjoyed huge success as a bowler with the Calcasieu Association for Retarded Citizens (CARC) and proudly displayed his many trophies. As a special Olympian, he placed first in the javelin throw (he was exceptionally strong). Lucien's unconditional love for zydeco, especially Clifton Chenier and "Boo Zoo" Chavis, was manifested in his undisturbed listening to Diva -D's Zydeco radio show every Saturday on KZWA radio. He looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed his annual birthday celebrations. Not only did he enjoy his birthday celebrations, but he also enjoyed holiday gatherings with family and friends, family reunions, CARC Mardi Gras balls where he displayed his love for sartorial flair. (inherited from his brother, Gene). Lucien was also a modern-day Renaissance man. He embellished his love for clothing and costumes with his gold teeth, tattoos and earrings. He was especially proud of the diamond earrings given to him by Barbara, his sister-in-law. He excitedly awaited Christmas which gave him an opportunity to buy gifts for his sisters and sisters-in-law. He reserved a special day in December for that shopping adventure that was always shared with Gene.

His cheerful heart will be missed by his many friends and family members. He is survived by his siblings: Judge Gene Thibodeaux {Phyllis}, James Thibodeaux, Jr (Barbara), Dorothy Leger, Alpha Rita Gobert, Martha Thibodeaux and Mary Collins, and sister -in-law, Helen Thibodeaux.

He leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and his favorite and loving caretaker, Diondra Evans whom he treated as a family member for fifteen years and who treated him as a member of her family for all those years and special friend, Lucy Victorian LaSalle, who lovingly helped to care for him.

He was preceded in death by his parents. James and Josephine Thibodeaux, brothers, John Habert Thibodeaux, Nolan Thibodeaux, Roland Thibodeaux, and a sister Verdna Mae Green.
