Obituary

Lucille Jones Hancock, a devoted wife and mother, was born on August 23, 1922 in Ashton, LA to Henry and Alberta Jones.  She departed this life on February 14, 2012 at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, LA.

She was joined in marriage to Leroy Bennett, Sr. to whom three children were born, Gloria Bennett, Joann B. Williams and Leroy Bennett, Jr. then on February 14, 1952; she married Elijah Hancock.  At an infant age, she was baptized in Dallas, TX.  She was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the tutor ledge of the late Pastor Jones and Pastor Allison and then Pastor E. Garner.  She was a faithful member of the Mt. Calvary Usher Board.  She had an overflowing abundance of love which radiated throughout her life.  Her never-ending gentleness and compassion for others radiated in every aspect of her life.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who touched the lives of many and will e sadly missed.  One of her favorite sayings was, "I'm  going to patty-cake your face."  She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands Leroy Bennett, Sr. and Elijah Hancock; infant daughter Gloria Bennett; daughter Joann Williams; brothers R.C. Jones and Henry Jones; sisters LeAnna Willis and Annie Mae Jones.

She leaves to cherish fond memories one son Leroy Bennett, Jr. of Grand Prairie, TX.  One daughter Sherriel Covington of Los Angeles, CA; one brother Nathaniel jones of Port Arthur, TX; one adopted son David Siverand; five grandchildren; Travis Bennett of Dallas, TX, Angela Hawkins of Lake Charles, LA, Kevin Williams of Lake Charles, LA, Elijah Bennett of Columbus, OH, Ayanna Bennett of Columbus, OH; six great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Ruth Hancock Jackson and her best friend, Viola Roberson of Newnan, GA.

Her funeral will be at 11am Wednesday, February 22, in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.  The Rev. Elmore Garner will officiate. Burial will be in Combre Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.  Visitation from 10am Wednesday in the church.
