A Virtuous Woman

Lucille Delores Pitre Harts, 86, of Lake Charles Louisiana, transitioned into heaven on the morning of Thursday, June 25, 2020. She was born on November 23, 1933, in Ville Plate, Louisiana. She married the love of her life, Robert A. Harts, Sr. on January 5, 1953, and now they are joined together again as residents of heaven.

Lucille Harts graduated from Ville Plate Negro High School in Ville Plate, Louisiana, on June 7, 1953, in which there were 24 graduates (three of whom are still living). This was two years before all black students moved to James Stephens High School. While in high school, she played basketball and ran track, a talent she definitely passed on to her son and grandsons. She was proud to be a military wife and mother. She and Robert, Sr. lived in Germany, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas before settling in Lake Charles, Louisiana, in 1969. Lucille loved to travel. She and Robert, Sr. traveled to Italy and Paris during his military years.

Lucille always spoke of the love story between her and Robert, Sr. She often said, "Robert was my one and only true love!" Lucille loved her children dearly and was cherished by them and all of her grandchildren. She loved helping elderly residents during years past. She was a dynamic cajun cook and made sure there was more than enough to eat when you would visit her.

Lucille will always be loved and remembered as a woman of strong faith and deep commitment to her family. She was always a woman of grace in her words and actions. Lucille also did not mind correcting you if you needed it but did so in love.

She was a past member of Greater St. Mary Baptist Church and was a current member of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Master Sergeant Robert A. Harts, Sr., parents, Alexander and Lucille Pitre and step-mother, Orelia Pitre, three brothers, Lester, Onezime, and Anderson Pitre, eight sisters, Cecile Thomas, Lonia Pitre, Lilly Williams, Willie Mae Lewis, Majorie Stenson, Audry Pitre, Mildred Pitre, Ella Mae Anderson and one step-sister, Camile Vidrine. Lucille is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Harts Ray (Derry) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and her son Robert A. Harts, Jr. (Veronica) of Houston, Texas, grandchildren, Natasha Turner, Belinda Jack, Lawrence (Larry) Jack, Ryan Harts, Trey Harts (Lacey); great grandchildren, Jailyn Hebert, LeDazha Carter, Tylen Jack, and Chloe Harts; and one great, great grandchild, Aubree Jones. Additionally, Lucille leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
