Obituary

Madora Pete Bryant, 89, passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, in a local care facility. She was born on March 15, 1925, to the late Pierre "Bud" and Mary Latour Pete in Lake Charles, La.

Madora was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles area, was married to the late Lennis P. Bryant, and together they parented two children, Mary Hardy Thompson and Madora Hardy Davis. She was an active member of her church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she served as director of Vacation Bible School for 35 years and Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. She was director of the Willing Workers for Christ at the Baptist State Convention for many years.

Cherishing her memories are her daughters, Mary Hardy Thompson and Madora Hardy Davis, both of Lake Charles, La.; nine grandchildren, Jerry (Patrice) Thompson of Memphis, Tenn., Lisa (Yaku) Ray of Houston, Texas, Shelia (Ivory) McKanstry of Baton Rouge, La., StephanieC. Thompson, Francis J. Simon Jr., Burley (Eva) Thompson, Eric J. Simon, Terrell (Tansia) Thompson and JanetM. Thompson, all of Lake Charles, La.; 22 great-grandchildren, three great-greatgrandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Her service will be Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, in Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, 119N. Bank St., Lake Charles, La. Viewing will be 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., and Celebration of Life will begin at 11 a.m.
