From an early age, Marcus Richard displayed a remarkable spirit of compassion and resilience. He dedicated his life to serving others, whether through his career as a Flooring Tech or Heavy Equip Operator. Known for his warm smile and generous heart, he touched the lives of everyone he encountered. He was the grandson of Marx Carriere, civil-rights activists for the Mossville community and served as a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Deputy under the guidance of Sheriff Wayne McElveen and Tony Mancuso.
Marcus was a devout member of St John Bosco Catholic Church, where he faithfully served in Knights of St. Peter Claver for over 40 years. He served in the capacity of Grand Knight, Financial Secretary, and Jr Commander. He also received recognition for best BBQ man with the Knights of St. Peter Claver. His unwavering faith was a guiding light to his family and community, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Marus enjoyed fishing and socializing with his/her friends and family. He enjoyed participating in all his children's and grandchildren's lives. He loved barbecuing for all his family and friends' functions and home goings. He also loved his Mossville Community that he said he would never leave home.
Marcus will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his
faith, and his endless kindness to others. His legacy of love, faith, and service
will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Marcus was preceded in death by his parents; John Earl Richard and Loretta Carriere Richard; his sisters Mary Stevens and Gloria Jean Coward and numerous nieces and nephews. Marcus leaves to cherish his loving wife Carol Ann Singleton Richard; three sons; Christopher Bilbo Sr., Carl Richard, Lamar Richard and daughter; Markal Richard Gamble; 15 grandkids and 3 great grandkids; two sisters; Loretta Richard of Phoenix , Arizona and JoAnn Williams of Beaumont, Texas; two brother in laws; Robert Williams and LG Stevens and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10,2025 from 9:00A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Burial will be in Perkins cemetry under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
