Mark Anthony Chrétien, Sr. "Tootie/Redbird" was born on June 13, 1959 to the late Edward Chrétien Sr. and Lilly Deville Chrétien in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was the 5th child born of 6 to this union. He died December 19, 2013 at the age of 54.

Mark was a 1977 graduate of W. O. Boston High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He worked for Metro Transit Systems in Houston, Texas for 10 years then moved back to Lake Charles to run his own company Chrétien and Sons Tile Setters. He laid beautiful tile in many homes and businesses. His favorite saying was "Jesus was a carpenter and I was blessed to be a carpenter to build things to."

Mark was a very caring person. He was nicknamed "Redbird" and "Tootie" by his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, playing chess/dominoes, Reggae music and just being with his family and friends. Mark met no strangers. He loved to have fun with his family, friends, nieces and nephews. He loved to help others and was a skilled craftsman and tile setter. He was a great help to his mom after the death of his dad.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Lilly Deville Chrétien. His children Marc Chrétien Jr. (Heather) Alexandria, La. Tiffany Chrétien (Houston), Adrian Leday (Latonia), Shonna Franklin (Lake Charles, Louisiana, Gabriella Chrétien (Houston, Texas), his goddaughter Moquita Monique Chretien-Winey. Nine grandchildren: Marquis, Sir Brighton, Sierra, Xavier, Noah, Christopher, Analise, Jasmine and Jada, His sisters: Gwendolyn Chrétien-Berry (Michael) Houston, Texas, Gwen Chrétien- Olivier (John) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, brothers: Edward Chrétien Jr. (Leatrice) Lake Charles, La. , Gregory Chrétien (Mary) Lake Charles, La., Jeffrey Chrétien (Janine) Lake Charles, La. and Christopher Maney (Spring, Texas), great aunts: Elvina LeBlanc and Alice Shaw, Godmother/Aunt Anna Frank, Olena Chrétien, Lena Metoyer Mary Perrodin, Rose Ozenne and one Uncle George Ozenne and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Edward Chrétien Sr.
