Obituary

Marshall Joseph Simien, Sr., 76, died on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at home surrounded by family.  He was born on October 21, 1943 to August "Octave" and Josephine Simien in Welsh, LA.  He lived most of his life in Lake Charles, LA.

Marshall was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Laborers Local 207 where he once served as Vice-President, and the Knights of Peter Claver Council 141.  He was employed by Turner Industries for 41 years at LyondellBasell.  After his retirement from Turner, he worked 10 years as a crossing guard at Oak Park Middle School for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

Marshall was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend who never met a stranger.  He was generous with his time, gifts, talents, and ready, not only to give advice on any project undertaken, but to also lend a hand in completing the project.  He enjoyed cooking, often sending family text messages letting everyone know that "Papa's Kitchen" was open for take-out or dinning in.  He also enjoyed taking in the beauty of Lake Charles from the rides on his pontoon boat.  Marshall enjoyed traveling with his family on cruises and his yearly trips to Florida cooking for his children, grandchildren and their friends and visiting the beach.  He also enjoyed watching movies while sitting in his favorite recliner.  His greatest joy was being with his family.

He will be forever remembered by his beautiful wife of 58 years, Nolia "Tiny"  Simien; 5 children, sons, Marshall (Paula) Simien, Jr., Jonathan (Renee) Simien, daughter Ramona "Bird" Simien, all of Lake Charles, LA, daughter Rhonda (Gerald) Elam of Sulphur, LA, and daughter Robinetta "Robbie" (Tony) Wilkins of Missouri City, TX; 6 grandsons, Dexter Simien, Anthony (Lauren) Wilkins, Walter (Allissa) Wilkins, Marshall Simien, III, August Simien,  Kendall Simien; 3 granddaughters, Jordan Simien, Sha'Nolia Wilkins, Grace Simien; 2 great grandchildren, Hayden Wilkins, Reign Wilkins; 6 step-grandchildren, Keith (Tracy) Guillory , Brittany    Johnson, Dion Johnson, Brittni Elam, Britoya Elam, Briana Elam; 8 step-great  grandchildren, Summer Guillory, Kiarrah Guillory, Keith Guillory, Jr., Taylin Johnson, Kobe McCoy, Kylie McCoy, Jahsiah Hampton, Daniel Elam.
