IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Dell
Guillory-Dejean
September 30, 1943 – November 13, 2021
Her Life, Her Legacy
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
When He calls me, I will answer. I'll be somewhere listening for my name.
On November 13, 2021, in the morning, Mary Dell Guillory DeJean, answered her call to be reunited with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Mary's name has been placed in God's "Roll Book" of eternal life.
Born October 30, 1943 to Melvin and Lillian Guillory in Mallet, LA. Mary was united in Holy Matrimony to Charles DeJean. Through their union, God blessed them with four sons, Duewell "Joe" Guillory, Charles Jr. "Macky", Darrell and Michael DeJean.
Mary had a warm and loving spirit with a compassion for life and people. She was devoted to her family and friends, especially her four best friends, Ruby, Teen, Shirley, and Irene. She was a faithful member of Glad Tidings Church. She always greeted her church family and visitors with a big smile. She always started her day with a cup of coffee and scriptures. She was a "neighborhood mom", always offering a home cooked meal to those in need.
She worked for 30+ years at Robinswood School and 2.5 years as a school crossing guard for Calcasieu Parish.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Michael DeJean (Susan); her daughter-in-law, Lisa Guillory; two sisters, Audrey Jackson and Marjorie Craine; three sisters-in-law, Evelda Guidry, Beula DeJean, and Sophia DeJean. Also treasuring her memories are a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Lillian Guillory; her husband, Charles DeJean Sr.; three sons, Duewell Guillory, Charles DeJean, Jr., and Darrell DeJean; six brothers, Duewell Guillory, Willie Guillory, Freddie Guillory, Lionel Guillory, Burley Guillory, and James Guillory; five sisters, Lucille Citizen, Sylvia Eaglin, Linda Fontenot, Clara Guillory, and Dora Guillory; three grandchildren, Devon DeJean, Charles DeJean III and Gracelynn Ellis.
