Our beloved Mary Thompson, 77, departed this life on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.  She was born February 20, 1944, to Arzenor and Medora Pete Hardy in Lake Charles, LA.

Mary Hardy and Jerry Thompson united in marriage April 4, 1960, and this union lasted for 28 years until the early passing of her husband on August 25, 1989.

Mary was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was very active in church serving in many capacities. She was passionate about singing and playing Gospel music. Her alto voice was strong and powerful; she was an outstanding soloist and musician. Mary was the organist for the Rose Bud Choir where she taught children music and vocals for decades and was also the organist for the church Male Chorus. She remained a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for over 60 years, she later joined the Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Elmore Garner where she served until her passing.

After receiving certification as an LPN, Mary Ann began a career in nursing at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, until making a career change to become a paraprofessional. While employed at the Calcasieu Parish School board, she worked with disabled children until retirement.

Her legacy will continue through her 5 children Jerry (Patrice) Thompson of Memphis Tennessee, Stephanie Thompson, Burley (Eva) Thompson, Terrell (Tansia) Thompson, and Janet Thompson all of Lake Charles Louisiana; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
