Obituary

Mary Edna Jolivet Joseph was born October 24, 1936, in Grand Coteau, Louisiana to Freddie & Sylvia Jolivet. She was the oldest of three children, at the age of 11 her family moved to Lake Charles, LA where she enter public school.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she accepted Jesus Christ, then at the age of 18 she became a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary until her transition.

For, Mary Edna and Martin Joseph, it must have been, "love at first sight." Six months after meeting, they exchanged vows and were united in holy matrimony on December 4, 1954.  To their blessed union, three children were born:  Bridget, Martin Jr., and Mark.

From an early age, Mary Edna developed a sense and desire to care for others.  She spent her entire life taking care of others.  She made it a point to always be the best caregiver she could.  She often stated, "she felt that it was what God had placed her here to do."

She stayed busy by donating her time, talents, and energy to numerous charitable organizations. She was the President of the March of Dimes three years in a role where her and her team led in donations, also she was President of the PTA at Lincoln Middle School.   She was always willing and ready to say a Rosary, a prayer, comforting and encouraging others, as well as giving a listening ear.  She was known for cakes, cooking, rice dressing, cornbread dressing and a mean pork roast.   She was always ready to provide a meal for her family and friends or ready to make a pot of coffee for anyone at any time.  She touched lives everywhere she went and left lasting impressions on everyone she met.  When she traveled to family on special occasions, she bought her meals already prepared to be cook, whether by car or bus.  "She loved to cook."

She was our families' historian as she knew the family's legacies, history, and stories untold.  Mary Edna often shared stories of the Jolivet and Joseph family's past.  Her story telling made all feel like they had been there.

She is remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother in-law, great and great-great grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend.
