Mary Louise Nickerson, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. She was born January 26, 1936, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. A woman of great faith and devotion to Christ, she attended New Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she was baptized at an early age.
She was a beautician for 18 years before retiring. She also served as the Head Cook for The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Detention Home for 32 years until retirement.
She is survived by her children; daughter, Sheila Miller of Lake Charles, sons, Michael (Virginia)Nickerson of Lake Charles and David (Diana) Nickerson of Lake Charles and her brother Clarence Jackson of Capitol Heights, Maryland. Ten grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Nickerson, her parents Henry and Eldora Jackson, brother, Joseph Jackson, great grandson Nyheim Papillion and nephew, Clarence Wayne Jackson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 9:00 A.M. followed by her funeral service at 11:00 A.M. in Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church Under the direction of Combre Funeral Home. Pastor Roland Mouton will officiate.
