Mary Slaughter Doucet, passed away in her home, at the age of 85, on Monday, January 11, 2016.

Mary was born on March 22, 1930, in St. Landry Parish to the late Paul and Sarah Slaughter.

On September 22, 1947, she married the late Clarence "Shay" Doucet. Soon after marriage, Mary and Shay moved to Lake Charles and raised five children.

Mary was devout Catholic and prayed her rosary daily, she was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where she served on the Lady Auxiliary, Christian Mothers, a Eucharistic Minister and a Cursillo #102.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sons; Paul (Louella) Doucet of Missouri City, TX, Floyd (Ethel) and Charles Doucet, both of Lake Charles, one daughter Brenda (Adie) Lartigue of Lake Charles and her son-in-law Gary Kaough also of Lake Charles. Two sisters Mable Grey and Leola (Sylvester) Collins both of Houston, TX. One uncle; Willie (Erma) Duruso. Longtime friend and neighbor Katherine Declues and Prescilla Adams whom Mary raised as her own. Nine grandchildren; Andrea (Jocko) Fontenot, Tiffany Doucet, Mondrae Fuller, Floyd Doucet Jr., Sean Doucet, Korie Weston, Krystal Kaough, Candice Doucet, and Gregory Kaough, ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Proceeding her in death were her parents, her husband, Clarence "Shay" Doucet, her daughter, Joyce Kaough, eight brothers and two sisters.

Service date: January 16, 2016

Funeral services for Mary Slaughter Doucet will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 1:00pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Visitation will be held from 9:00am -12:45pm at Combre Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 10am.
