Mary Lou (Williams) Washington passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2014, in her residence surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Herman Washington, Jr., whom she married on November 22, 1947. Seven children were born as a result of their union. Loved by many, she welcomed all into her home for delicious home cooked meals and wonderful conversation. But, she especially loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Robert Washington, Carla (Erroll) DeVille, Sharon Washington, Margaret Darlene Washington, Herman Scott (Bridgette) Washington, and Shawn Washington, all of Lake Charles and Joshlyn Reynolds of Baytown, TX. She also leaves other family members that were near and dear to her heart, Clara Joubert of Ft. Worth, TX; Barbara Curtis of Alexandria, LA; her brother, Stephen Booth of Los Angeles, CA; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Herman Washington, Jr.; daughter, Joyce Washington; brother Edward Williams; sister Marjorie Williams; her father, Edward Williams; her mother, Myrtle Booth; and her beloved grandparents of whom she was raised, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Williams.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2014, under the direction of Combre Funeral Home, at 11:00am at Reeves Temple CME Church where the Rev. Dr. H. Leon Williams, Sr. is pastor. The family would like to thank all of those that aided in the care of our loving mother, especially her caring nurse, Wendy, of Southern Care Hospice.
