Michael Bob'' Kamara was born on December 11, 1947 to Mammy Conteh and Bockarie Kamara in Sierra Leone, West Africa. His mother''s hometown was Kamagbengbeh and his father''s hometown was Kaimabala. Michael lived most of his life in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Michael worked for Lyondell Bissell for twenty-seven years before retiring as a Millwright. At the time of his death, he was employed as a Millwright at Westlake Petrochem. He was educated in a private school in Sierra Leone and later went on to attend technical college where he graduated as a Millwright. He was a Mason for thirty years. He held several positions: Past Master in Cornerstone, #229; Past High Priest, 7th District Deputy, Grand High Priest; Mt. Moriah #21 Holy Royal Arch Masons, George Washington Commondry #21, Knights Templer; John G. Lewis Sr. Consistory, #145, Past 1st Lieutenant, and 33 degree Grand Inspector General. He was also a member of the Mid-City Lions Club.
Church affiliations consisted of Deacon at New Sunlight Baptist Church, taught Sunday school, Laymen Ministry, Male Chorus, Sanctuary Choir, and the Outreach Ministry.
Michael "Bob" leaves a legacy of love to his daughter Admire V. Kamara; sisters Alice Kamara, Kaday Kamara, Adama Kamara, and Intuma Kamara; brothers Kennedy Kamara and Osman Kamara; one grandchild Armand Michael Johnson; best friend and brother Dennis Frazier; and a host of other family, church members and friends. Preceding Michael in death were his father Bockarie Kamara, mother Mammy Conteh, son Randolph Kamara and one brother Alwine Kamara.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Service date: August 29, 2015
Yorks Rights and Scottish Rights Burial Service will be held Friday, August 28, 2015 from 6pm to 9pm at Combre Funeral Home with the Blue Lodge Burial Service to be held at 11am Saturday, August 29, 2015, at New Sunlight Baptist Church. Visitation Saturday, August 29, from 9am - 12noon at the church. Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., burial will be in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
