Mildred Hicks Bellard was born on June 27, 1929 in Deweyville, Texas to the late Clara Edwards and Will Hicks. She was married to the late Milton Bellard, Sr. in 1948. To this union, one daughter and eleven sons were born.
Mildred accepted Christ at an early age. She became a member of Sacred Heart Church in 1951 and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. Harvey Lawson at Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in 1986. She was a Deaconess, a member of Mission Department, Circle #1 and an equipper for new member. She also worked on the Social Committee, President of Class #3 Sunday School class. She retired from McNeese after 21 faithful years of service and also worked at First Baptist Church – Downtown for 10 years in food services.
She is survived by one daughter, Rosa "Sunday" Bellard of Lake Charles and ten sons Milton J. Bellard, Jr., Robert (Denise) Bellard, Willie (Patsy) Bellard, Sr., John (Lorena) Bellard, Gerard (Constance) Bellard, David (Rene) Bellard all of Lake Charles and Rufus Charles Bellard, Curtis W. Bellard, Michael (Karen) Bellard and Randolph Scott (Debra) Bellard of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Linda Starland of Lake Charles, LA, Jesse (Thomas) Parsons of Mossville, LA, Eva Williams of Dallas, Texas, one brother George (Cynthia) Matthew of Houston, Texas and one sister-in-law, Barbara Hartman of Lake Charles, LA; twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death her devoted husband, Milton Bellard, Sr., her parents, Clara Edwards and Will Hicks, one son Morris Patrick, two brothers Curtis Hicks and Robert Hartman, two sisters, Roberta Cotlong and Betty Van Buren and twin great grandchildren, Brandon and Taylor Law.
