Norma Jean Antoine, 86 departed this life peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at 3:41 AM. She was surrounded by her loving daughters as she was called home.
Norma was born September 2, 1937, to the late Albertha Rideaux and Freddie Stevens in Opelousas, LA. Norma met the love of her life, Frank Antoine. They entered the sacred bond of marriage on April 27, 1963. This union was graced with the blessing of three children: Frank Anthony, Patrice Renee, and Rebecca Marie. Throughout her life, Norma was known for her unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and community. She will be remembered for her compassionate nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. For over 25 years, Norma worked as a Para Educator for Sacred Heart Catholic School and John F Kennedy Elementary. She also used her creative
touch to wrap the most extravagant gifts at Navarre's Jewelry and Gifts, where she was employed for over 40 years. Norma's greatest passion was sewing, decorating, and crafting, and she dedicated countless hours to perfecting her craft. A skill she passed down to her daughters.
As a member of Sacred Heart, she was dedicated to serving in many committees, such as Mardi Gras Committee, Sacred Heart Choir, and helping with St. Joseph Society. Norma was an enthusiastic member of the Red Hats Society, a group devoted to supporting women in their pursuit of Fun, Freedom, Friendship, Fitness, and the Fulfillment of lifelong dreams.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Antoine; her parents Albertha and Freddie Stevens; four sisters Ethel Thomas, Vine Ann Lyles, Lydia Thomas, and Wilma Minix; as well as five brothers: Fred Stevens, Irvin Stevens, Adam Levy, Wilkin Stevens, and Oliver Stevens.
Norma's legacy will live on through her loved ones, who will forever cherish the memories created with her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memories of three children, Frank Anthony Antoine (Sadia) of Dublin, California; Patrice Renee of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Rebecca (Ronald) of Spring, Texas; one brother John Stevens (Betty) of Houston, Texas. Meme will also be missed by her three grandchildren:
Dillon Antoine Holmes, Nia Renee Holmes, and Elize Saibah Antoine, her fur baby, Ace and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends
