Olivia Hanney, 82, of Lake Charles, La passed away on Saturday, August 20th, 2016. She was born on June 8th, 1934 in Lawtell, La. She was married to the late Lionel (Leo) Hanney and of this union five children were born.
Olivia was a devoted wife and mother. She was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was a member of the Christian Mothers. She loved her children and wanted us to have better than she did growing up. Her mother died when she was 5 years old. She didn''t have much education but was determined to make sure all of her children went to college. She was an avid garage sale shopper. She would purchase clothing only to wash, mend and iron them for someone who couldn''t afford to shop for quality clothing. She was very active and a huge contributor for the annual Church Bazaars for many years as a baker of highly sought out homemade cakes and candies. At Christmas time, she baked homemade goodies that were given away as gifts. She picked cotton in the cotton fields along with her husband while even close to giving birth to her children. She was a hard worker and a giver in so many ways. If she knew you needed, she would try her best to provide. If you visited her, she made sure you left with a full stomach with dessert included. She was a no nonsense kind of women. She always spoke truth which was sometimes hard to receive by people but that made her the best friend anyone could ever have. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and interior decorating. She was a classy woman of style.
