The Life and Legacy of Patricia Ann Talbert Dixon

Patricia was born on August 1, 1958, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Sgt. Alvin Ray Talbert and Creola Gastile Talbert.

Patricia gave her life to Christ at an early age, and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and later in life, attended Reeves C.M.E. Temple Church.

A talented athlete, she was recognized for her skills on the basketball court at both Washington High School and Marion High School, often averaging 10 to 12 points and 7 to 8 rebounds per game. Patricia graduated with honors from Marion High school in 1976.

Patricia was united in Holy Matrimony to Rickie Allen Dixon in 1977.

Patricia passed on her love of Basketball to her 3 children, who were all excellent ball players and continued her legacy with each of them playing for Washington Marion Magnet High School.

Upon graduation, she attended Grambling State University and continued her collegiate journey at McNeese State University.

Patricia served her community by coaching “The City Marshall Girls’ Softball Team”, at Goosport Recreation Park from the summers of 1976-1978.

Patricia did not shy away from hard work and served as a dedicated mail carrier for over a decade. She also worked as an employee of Wal-Mart, where she was known for her strong work ethic.

Growing up in a game-playing home, she was able to again display that competitive spirit, while playing games such as: Yahtzee, Scrabble, and Sorry. One of her favorite pastimes was playing against her sister, Gladys, for hours on end! She will be remembered for her love of family and her unwavering willingness to help anyone in need.

Patricia went on to meet her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 21, 2026. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all those who cared for her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sgt. Alvin Ray Talbert.

She leaves to cherish precious memories: her mother, Creola Gastile Talbert; her sisters: Gladys Talbert and Nedra Carrier; her brother, Arthur Landry; her children: DeShon Dixon, LaShon Dixon, and Rickie Dixon; her estranged husband, Rickie Allen Dixon; eight grandchildren: Kayson Dixon, Kyara Dixon, Dionte Dixon, Jeffrey Dixon, JaTayla Dixon, Robric Dixon, Aubrey Dixon, and Izaiah Klinge; and a host of great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
