In Loving Memory of Patrick J. Potier

April 18, 1939 – July 31, 2026

Patrick J. Potier was born on April 18, 1939, in Cecilia, Louisiana, and departed this life on July 31, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy defined by service, faith, education, leadership, and love for family and community.

Patrick proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army before dedicating himself to the field of education as a teacher at Washington High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He later enjoyed a distinguished thirty-year career with Conoco and continued his lifelong commitment to service as a volunteer with numerous organizations, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), where he served as a safety officer.

A devoted servant and leader, Patrick was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, having been initiated into the Zeta Psi Lambda Chapter in the fall of 1968. He later became a charter member of Tau Kappa Lambda Chapter in the Republic of Panama, the first chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha established in Central America. He was also a dedicated member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council #31.

Patrick believed deeply in the value of fellowship, service, and community. He found great joy in bowling, fishing, golfing, and participating in billiards leagues, forming friendships that lasted a lifetime.

He is preceded in death by his father, George Potier, and mother, Mable Semere Potier; sister, Georgia Potier Myers; brothers, Raymond Potier, Crawford Potier, John Ramsey Potier, and Anthony George Potier; former wife, Audrey Potier; and daughter, Colette Potier.

Patrick’s memories will forever be cherished by his wife, Barbara Potier; sons, Marcus Potier of Houston (significant other, Amy Mahoney), Brian (Gregoria) Potier of Panama, Anthony Keith (Liliana) Lee of Denver, CO; sister, Maxine Broussard of Cecilia, LA, sister-in-law, Linda Ceaser of Lake Charles, LA; grandsons, Patrick Joseph Potier, II; granddaughters, Aungenae Davenport, Aundreana (Myles) Potier Eugene, Kayla (Andy) Potier St. Ama and Armani Lee; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives.

To know Patrick was to know a man of quiet strength, integrity, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to others. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored by all whose lives he touched. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will begin at 8:00 A.M. with the Omega Service of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity at 9:06; the rosary will be said at 9:30 A.M. by members of the Knights of St. Peter Claver Council #31 in Combre Funeral Home Chapel. His funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Entombment in Sacred Heart Mausoleum under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
