Paula Faye Broussard Hanchette, 54 was called home on Monday, July 7, 2014 in a local hospital after a sudden illness. Funeral service will be Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will began at 9:00 am at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church. Pastor Arthur Cullivan, Officiating and Rev. Carl Joseph Sr. Eulogist.
Paula Faye was born in Lake Charles, La on August 20, 1959 to Mary Wheeler Joseph and Albert (Tom) Broussard, Jr. She was a graduate of WashingtonHigh School, Class of 1977 and attended Southern University and a graduate of BaytownTechnicalSchool. Paula Faye loved children and was the owner and proprietary of TinyStepsDaycareCenter. She was currently employed at John J. Johnson II Elementary School as a paraprofessional.
Paula Faye is survived by her mother, Mary Wheeler Joseph; four children: Keshia (Douglas) LaVergne of Wylie, Tx., Jewel Broussard and Marlon (Tracey) Hanchette of Lake Charles, La., and Kayla Broussard of Baton Rouge, La. The memory of a grandmother''s love will always live in the heart of her three grandsons: Raymond Anthony Rideaux, III, Douglas Carter, and Nicholas Andrew LaVergne of Wylie, Tx. A sister''s love will dwell in the heart of her four sisters: Diane Joseph, Gwen Joseph Harris, Tammy Joseph Stephenson, and Kendryl Joseph. Her two brothers, Albert "Jabo" Wheeler, Sr., and Lamar Joseph. Survived by four godchildren, one uncle (Corris Charlot of Stockton, Ca.) and one aunt (Eleanor Ruth Snowton) of Sacramento, Ca., and a host of nieces, nephews, and family members.
Preceding her in death was her father, Albert (Tom) Broussard Jr., one sister Betty Joseph Citizen and three brothers, Leroy Joseph, Jr., Gerald Joseph, Sr., and Terrell Joseph. Also preceding her in death was her first son-in-law, Raymond Rideaux, Jr., grandparents: Albert and Louisa Broussard, Sr., and Isaac and Gussie Wheeler.
