Peter Calvin Doucet was born on April 23, 1938 in Washington, Louisiana and was the ninth child born to the union of the late Joseph Demart Doucet and Edmay R. Doucet. He was baptized at an early age in the Catholic Church and served as an alter boy. As a young adult while in his adventurous days, he moved to New York City to be with his oldest brother. He later moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana and started a beautiful family.
Mr. Doucet was a Founder member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for over fifty plus years. He was also a member of the Knights of Peter Claver (K.P.C.) #141. Mr. Doucet was a member of the Mardi Gras Committee where he served and resigned as Parish King.
Mr. Doucet worked for the city of Lake Charles where he retired from work for over forty-five years. Peter was known for his dedication, hard work, and many talented skills. After retirement, he later worked for America's Towing, LLC. He was a loving, kind, and compassionate man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. He was also known for his generosity, humorous personality, tasteful cooking and loving spirit (In All) an "AWESOME" man. He will not only be missed by his family, but by many others who respected, loved, and cherished him.
He departed this life on Thursday, February 18, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Demart and Edmay R. Doucet; wife, Geraldine Doucet; son, Jerome Totsy Doucet, and brother-in-law, Sullivan Offord; two sisters, Willie Mae Offord and Helen Barrett; three brothers, Clarence (Mary) Doucet, Harry (Agnus) Doucet and Dennis (Annabelle) Doucet; two brother-in-laws, Henry Hicks and Morris Barras.
He leaves to cherish his two beautiful daughters, Mona (Michael) Eddie and Sherwon (Winston) Edwards both of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Seven grandchildren, Michael Jamar Eddie, Marcus Gerard (Jaumecka) Eddie, Monasha Joy Eddie, Javandan Kasean Beason, Meyosha Shardé Edwards, Whitney Nicole Edwards, and Winston Ed Edwards. Eight great grandchildren, Katelynn, Gavy'n, Malachi, Marcus, Jr., Jordyn, D'Kayzn, Makay'zlynn, and Dylan. Three sisters, Ruby Barras and Dorothy (Michael) Pradia both of Houston, Texas and Dolores Hicks of Lake Charles, Louisiana; three Godchildren, Derrill Hicks, LaDonna Faye LeDay and LaShonda Simien Manuel; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Also special friend, Eva Rachal and best friend, Eugene Cormier.
