IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Reginald Curley
Syas Sr.
September 7, 1942 – October 24, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Reginald Curly Syas Sr. on October 24, 2023, at the age of 81. He was born on August 07,1942 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to the union of the late Edward Syas and Fannie Mae Syas.
Reginald was a proud resident of Lake Charles and was a 1960 graduate of W. O. Boston High School. He was also a devoted catholic and a faithful member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. He was a hard worker and worked as a Security Officer at the Isle of Capri Casino until Hurricane Laura forced his retirement. When not
working, he shared life's simple pleasures with his family and friends, providing endless laughs with his signature humor and unique "Mop Syas" personality.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Fannie Syas, two brothers, Leroy Syas and Edward Syas (Bobby), four sisters, Agnes Jackson, Myrtle Syas, Emma Dell Syas Gardner, and Lillie Mae Orphey, daughter, Virena Syas (Vi), and son Gary Declouet.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Pearlie Syas, sister, Evelyn Hardaway, daughter, Shannon Duffey (Missy), sons Reginald Syas Jr., Ronald Duffey, Mark Declouet (Butch), ten grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Reginald was also fortunate enough to
build enduring bonds that transfigured friends into family. He was blessed to have his God chosen niece, Hannah Hardman, there to see him until the end of his journey. His family will continue to honor his memory by celebrating his spirit of resilience and tenaciousness; and following his example by living their lives to the fullest. In the
words of Mop Syas, til Find no Fault".
