Mr. Reid Elliot Chapman, 3008 S. Gen. Wainwright, Lake Charles, La., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles, La.
He was a native of Belton, S.C., but spent most of his life in raising his family, one wife and six children, in Lake Charles, La. Mr. Reid was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Belton, S.C. to George Frank Chapman and Eather Boseman Chapman.
Mr. Reid E. Chapman, after an extensive military career, became and served faithfully as one of Jehovah''s Witnesses. He also had a career as a carpenter at Citgo Refinery for 23 years.
In 1955, Reid E. Chapman took to wed Thelma R. Turner, who of this union had six children. Reid and Thelma were blessed to share 61 years with one another.
Out of Reid''s family, his daughter, Ruby Priscelia Freeman preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Thelma Chapman of the home; five sons, Kenneth L. Chapman of Lake Charles, Stanley Chapman of Lake Charles; Steven M. (Venetta) Chapman of Idabel, Okla., Darrell E. (Min. Harriett) Chapman of Lake Charles, and Min. Anthony D. (Linda) Chapman of Lake Charles; three sisters, Alberta Rucker of Belton, S.C.; Josephine Rucker of Detroit, Mich; and Corrie Bell Sullivan of Belton, S.C.; one brother, Lewis Chapman of Atlanta, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends.
The Chapman family give thanks to all concerned friends. We thank you for your cards, your calls and whatever way you have showed love. We send thanks to Melissa Raspberry M.D. and also Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles. Repast will be at Lydia''s place at 2336 Broad St., Lake Charles, La.

Services for Reid E. Chapman are as follows: Visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2016, at 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Combre Funeral Home and will continue Saturday 9 a.m. until service time at Kingdom Hall. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah''s Witnesses, 2551 Alma Dr., Lake Charles, La. Burial will be in Dignity Gardens on Gulf Hwy.
