Rhines Simon
Jr.
August 27, 1949 – April 17, 2022
Rhines Simon Jr., affectionately called "Jr. Boy" and "June" was born August 27, 1949, in Lake Charles, LA to the late Rhines Simon Sr. and Lovenia Pete Simon. He was raised in Lake Charles, LA and attended Washington High School, Lake Charles, LA.
He was working at their family-owned business, Prater Street Cleaners, when he met the love of his life, Ethel (Edna) Collins. Shortly after, Rhines and Ethel were married on September 16, 1972. To this union, two children were born, Anthony Greg Simon and Annette ('Nette) Parker.
Rhines Jr. worked for F. Miller and Sons for 18 years before retiring due to his disability. Following his retirement, Rhines helped manage his parents' store, L&R Groceries Inc.
Rhines was a former member of the PHA Mason, Golden Chain Lodge 103, Lake Charles, LA.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Lake Charles, LA. where he remained a faithful member.
He loved the opportunity to spend time with his grandson Aidan and attend all of his athletic events. He always enjoyed visits from his granddaughter Brianna.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rhines Simon Sr., mother, Lovenia (Pete) Simon, his wife, Ethel Simon and his sister, Mary Louise (Simon) Cotlong. He leaves to mourn, his son, Anthony Simon of Lake Charles, LA, daughter, 'Nette (Craig) Parker of Houston, TX (currently stationed in Washington, D.C.), one sister, Angelia Faye Simon, two grandchildren, Brianna Z. Parker and Aidan M. Simon of Lake Charles, LA, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special thank you to a very devoted and caring friend, Sandra Gobert.
Rhines departed this life on April 17, 2022 at his residence.
