Rickey Charles Lewis was born to the parents of Albert Lewis, and Mary Thomas on January 23, 1959 in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Rickey grew up and attended "W.O. Boston High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

In his adult life, he later decided to join the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Fort Knox Kentucky in June 1977 and served for four years until he was honorably discharged. Years later he returned home and welcomed a daughter, Shannon Carrier. A short time later, Rickey married Toni Marie Walker and gained a son, Rashad Vantrese. Rickey was a truck driver and retired after suffering from a stroke in 2015.
