Robert "Junior or BO" son of Ida Mae Dixon and Earl Ashley Sr. was born October 15,1943 in Alexandria, LA. He attended and graduated from W. O. Boston High School. Shortly after high school, he joined the United States Army. He was a faithful member of Zion Tabernacle Baptist, under the leadership of the Rev. Alvin Brass.
After retiring from the United States Army returned, back home to Lake Charles, LA. He worked for Citgo, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Office and his final job before retiring for good was owner/operator of All Phase Inspections. He was an avid sports fan and die hard Washington Redskins fan. He also loved playing dominoes.
Robert leaves to cherish his memories his wife Ruth Higgins Dixon, daughters Lolita R. Dixon of Lake Charles, LA and Diannia (Randy) Joseph-Walker of Fairfield, CA, sons Patrick D. (Jennifer) Aaron of Goodyear, AZ, Robert A. (Mary) Jackson of Lake Charles, LA, Ellis "Pookey" Joseph Jr. of San Jose, CA, and Dellray Shelton of Keithville, LA. Sisters Gwendolyn V. Reeder of Katy, TX, Beverly Burns and Debra Wright both of Alexandria, LA; brothers Earl (Frankie) Ashley Jr. of Alexandria, LA, Danny Harden of Los Angeles, CA, and Kenneth "Kenny" Reeder of Lake Charles, LA. Also a special friend/brother Robert "Big Brother" Gordon of Lake Charles, LA. Thirteen grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
His parents, Sisters Geraldine Dixon-Williams, Ida Marie Harden, Dorothy Ashley, and brother O'Neal Ashley preceded him in death.
