A Celebration

HONORING THE Life AND Legacy of

Pastor Robert Lee Tucker, Sr.

Pastor Robert Lee Tucker, Sr. was born on October 6, 1942, to the late Mr. Michael Tucker and Mrs. Annie Hess Tucker in Natchez, Mississippi.  He so proudly attended Brumfield Elementary School and Brumfield High School in Natchez.

Following high school, Robert moved to Chicago, Illinois, for twelve years.  Robert was impressed by God to move back home to Natchez and when he obeyed the call, he began his journey to salvation.  Robert L. Tucker received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost in 1972 at Miracle Deliverance Church under the pastorate of Bishop Johnny Clophus and the late Sis. Viola Clophus.

On March 4, 1972, Robert and Mary D. Clophus were united in holy matrimony and to this union, four children were born: Robert L. Tucker, Jr., Tyrella L. Tucker Bushnell, Kenneth L. Tucker, and Kedrick D. Tucker.

Pastor Tucker L.O.V.E.D. his bride and spoiled her with care, gentleness, companionship, nurturing, and all beautiful things.  Robert said of Mary that she is his "only true love."  Each day, he would tell her of his love for her and that, "There would never be another one like Mary."

Robert was a devoted husband and father, a helper by nature, and a true man of integrity with a gentle and caring soul.  While his smile was infectious, many recognized the presence of God exuding from him.  With a spirit of humility, when you saw Pastor Tucker coming, you saw the Christ within him.  He lived in hope that his daily walk and talk would be pleasing unto God and that he could encourage others to take up the cross and follow Jesus.

During his hospital stay, Pastor Robert Tucker had a vision of himself laying in the bosom of Jesus where the glory of God filled the heavens.  While weeping under the power of the Holy Ghost, he reported, "It is not like this earth and not at all like looking upon the earth."  He also told of the words of Jesus spoke to him and said, "I am coming back for a people and a church without spot, wrinkle, or blemish.  Work on yourselves and treat people right."

Pastor Tucker was a family man who coached all of his sons' league teams and attended all of their functions.  He protected and shielded his only daughter and princess, Tyrella, and was sure his baby was well taken care of.  Pastor Tucker was a mentor to countless young men in the Mossville community and many of them called him Dad.  He enjoyed gardening and was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the thrill of the catch.  As an induction to the family, he invited you to squeeze his feet or rub his head.  He loved life, his family, his church, and most importantly, his Savior.

In 2004, Pastor Robert Lee Tucker joined Refuge Temple Ministries under the leadership of his best friend and buddy, Bishop Wendell Archie and the late Sis. Sandra Archie.  For many years, Pastor Tucker was the pastor over many axillaries at Refuge.  During his life and ministry -  He cared.  He sacrificed.  He served.  He lived what he preached and became a mighty warrior for the Kingdom – until the end.

Pastor Robert Lee Tucker leaves a legacy of love and precious memories with his wife of 45 years, Mary. D. Clophus Tucker, four children, Robert Tucker, Jr. (Nadine), Tyrella Tucker Bushnell (Craig), Kenneth Tucker, and Kedrick Tucker (Leslie) all of the Lake Charles area.  Also left to cherish his memory are a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and honorary children (Yolanda Roberson, Brad and Brandon Broussard, and Devitt Journett).
