Roderick "Rocky" Joseph August, 64, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on January 2, 2026.

Born on April 24, 1961, in Lake Charles, to the late Clarence & LouAnna August. Roderick spent his life deeply connected to the community he loved. He was a graduate of Lake Charles High class of 1979, and a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He worked for years as a truck driver, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic, independence, and dedication. Through long hours on the road he took pride in the work he did. He was also a devoted caregiver to his late parents as well as an active member of the Zeta Phi Beta Male Network.

Roderick cherished spending time with his family and friends (often taking his grandson Amare' wherever he went) and loved traveling, creating memories and sharing adventures with those he loved most. He was outgoing, never meeting a stranger, and had a gift for storytelling, delighting friends and family alike with his humor, charm, and captivating tales.

He is survived by his daughter, Alexandrea (Jonathan); grandchildren, Amare', Aria, and Averie; siblings, Debbie (late, Joseph) and Todd (Tuwanna), and his significant other, Deneen.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Clarence & LouAnna August, and brother-in-law Joseph LaFleur.

A memorial service will be held on January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 10:15 A.M. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Roderick Joseph August's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his love, his devotion, and the joy, laughter, and stories he shared with everyone around him.
