Rodney Delafose, 86, of Lake Charles passed away, Friday October 25, 2013, in Houston doing what he loved, visiting family and friends. Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 2 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 300 N Blake Street. Rev. Elmore Garner will be officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 am until time of service. Combre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rodney was born June 4, 1927 in Ville Platte, LA to the late Esvelle and Oleana Shillow Delafose. On December 21, 1946, he married the late Audrey Gradney Delafose. After 40 years of service, Rodney retired from Firestone Polymers. He enjoyed gardening, making sausage, boudin, and traveling. Not only did he enjoy his hobbies and helping friends and strangers, he loved the Word of God and lived everyday honoring his Heavenly Father.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Audrey; 2 sons, Rogers and Clarence; 3 brothers, Sidney Guillory, Wallace Delafose and Lawrence Delafose.

Rodney is survived by one son, Emray (Jocelyn "Joy") Delafose of Moss Bluff, three daughters, Shelia (Sam) Williams of Houston, TX, Jackie Delafose of Evergreen, CO, and Sherron (Eric) Gurvin of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Angelina Batiste of Atlanta, GA, Anna Belle Arnum of Lake Charles, and Evelyn (David) Lyons of Evergreen, CO; seven grandchildren, Eric (Charlita) Delafose of Lake Charles, Derek (Sherrill) Delafose of Houston, TX, Shawna (Michael) Mitchell of Houston, TX, Joy Nicole Delafose of Lake Charles, Stephanie (Nino) Etienne of Killeen, TX, Samantha Williams of Houston, TX and Ajani Nicole Gurvin of Atlanta, GA; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers for the service will be the members of the Deacon Ministry where he served faithfully as the Chairman until his passing.
