On September 29, 1926, Rose Mary Chaisson-Fontenot was born to the late Adolph and Lauris (Comeaux) Chaisson in Opelousas, Louisiana. Rose Mary was one of ten children. She attended J.S. Clark High School. She soon met, fell in love and married Aaron Carrier. To this union Rose Mary and Aaron became parents to their daughter Lydia. Aaron passed and years later Rose Mary found love again. She met and married Charles Fontenot, Sr. Unto this union Charles introduced the world to Rose Mary. She became an international traveler to places she thought she would never see.

Rose Mary practiced the Catholic faith religiously. She joined the St. Peter Clavers Ladies Auxiliary and the Ladies of Grace in Lake Charles, LA. One year she was even crowned the Mardi Gras Queen for the St. Peter Claver Court and Council. Rose Mary and other women of the church were active in presenting the weekly Rosary to those in
need.

Other than faith and family, Rose Mary worked various jobs though out her lifetime. She received a certificate as a trained practical nurse in 1953 from the Post Graduate Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. Later in life she worked at Pete's Fine China in Lake Charles. She loved this job because.it introduced her to the finer things in life.

In her past time, Rose Mary enjoyed family, Zydeco and Blues music but her ultimate past time was the CASINO. You only needed to whisper "casino" and away she go. She would just light up when entering the building. Just this past October, those lucky 7's were calling her name one last time. God was gracious to make her a winner yet once
again.

Rose Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her daughter Lydia Carriere, granddaughter Britni and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
