Mrs. Rose Marie “PaShook” Gamble, 87, of Lake Charles, La. born July 12, 1938 went peacefully to Glory on June 4, 2026 at the Harbor Hospice House. She was the daughter of the late Herman Earl Robertson, Sr and Viola Charles Robertson. She was married to the late Willie Hyan Gamble, Jr. for over 50 years.

“PaShook” as many have come to know her was a social butterfly, a woman who was full of life and enjoyed people. She did not know a stranger and enjoyed getting to know them better. Some would think she was a nosy body, but at the end of the day she just genuinely loved people. A very active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was definitely not a pew warmer. Among the many activities she was a diligent member of the Knights of St. Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary of St. Rita Court #31 and the 4th Degree Ladies of Grace St. Katherine Drexel Chapter 6; St Joseph and Altar Society. She also enjoyed cooking and baking goods for fundraisers and bazaars. Always dependable and reliable as well as being available for others. She also was a caregiver who loved to take care of others, especially those who were sick and in need of care. These things among many others gave her a sense of purpose and exceeding joy.

She worked many years as a deli worker at Kroger on 12th street from which she retired. Being a homebody was not her forte, she was always looking for things to do and how she could help others. One of her favorite pastimes was watching basketball. Kevin Durante and Steven Curry were her favorite players and as for Lebron James she thought he was stuck on himself. The Phoenix Suns, Oklahoma City and Golden State were her favorite teams. “PaShook” was definitely a basketball fanatic and would argue with you all day as to who was the best of them all. (GOAT). Steve Harvey is another person she was very opinionated about. “I can’t stand him”, as she would say. Yet she would watch his shows and Family Feud everyday, but she did like him, right?

At the end of all things, she enjoyed a full life and lived it well Rose “PaShook” Gamble is survived by her four children: Ms. Dianna Davis-Zenon of Houston, Texas; Mrs. Deborah Ann (Clifton) McZeal of Lafayette, La.; Veronica “Connie” Loretta Davis of Lake Charles, La; and Michael Joseph (Janice) Davis of Katy, Texas. Along with eleven grandchildren: Sheltonia Alfred, Angela Davis of Houston, Texas; Latriss D (Murphy) Fuselier and Daniel Davis of Katy Texas; Godrenia “Renee” Zenon of Humble, Texas; Valencia Lewis of LaPorte, Texas; Ulric (Keisha) Davis of Lake Charles, La, Felecia Daniels, Kerry Joseph and Alfred McZeal of Lafayette, La.; and Michaela Edens who is a Sargent in the U.S. Army currently stationed in San Angelos, Texas. Also survived by 30 great grandchildren, 20 great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews as well as many loving and endearing friends.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Mr. Willie Hyan Gamble, Jr., her parents Mr. Herman Earl Robertson , Sr. and Mrs. Viola Charles-Robertson; 6 siblings: Herman Earl Robertson, Jr., Rodney “Red” Robertson, Ruby Lee LeBlanc, Theresa Robertson, Anthony “Butch” Robertson, Joann Robertson Pradia; one grandson, Michael Joseph Davis Jr.; two great grandchildren: Kianna DeShae Zenon and Nehemiah Fusilier; and niece Brenda “Pouchie” Robertson.
