Rose Marie "Sims" Jackson, 72, died Sunday, May 17, 2015, in a local hospital
She was born Aug. 4, 1942, in Melville, La., to Freeman And Ardria Net Sims. Rose was a 1961 graduate of Grand Avenue High School. She furthered her education at Prairieview A&M University in nursing. Rose married Leroy Jackson Jr. on Sept. 28, 1974, to this union one son was born Leroy Jackson.
III. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in DeQuincy, La., where she served on the Usher Board. She retired from DeQuincy Memorial Hospital, where she later volunteered.
She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 41 years, Leroy Jackson Jr.; her son, Leroy Jackson III; two sisters, Doris (Clyde) Hall of Shreveport, La., and Nedra Carter of DeQuincy, La.; one brother, Troy Sims of DeQuincy La.; one special sister-in-law, Sherry Sims of Harvey La.; two goddaughters, Barbara Griffin of DeQuincy La., and Paula R. Jackson of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Ardria and Freeman Sims; and one brother, Robert Sims.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Service date: May 22, 2015
Visitation will be Friday, May 22, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Evergreen Baptist Church in DeQuincy, La. Funeral service will be Friday, May 22, 2015, in the church. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery in DeQuincy, La., under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
