Roy Lee Weldon, Jr., 68, died on May 18, 2016 in Jennings American LegionHospital. He was born April 1, 1948 and is a native of Lake Charles, LA.He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Weldon, Sr. and his mother,Naomi Gauthier Weldon.
He served his country with distinction for more than 41 years (23 years USNavy and 18 years Federal Civil Service US Army). After his secondretirement, he became fully involved with Veteran Service Organizations.He served several terms as Commander and Post Service Officer for theLewis-Gill-Lee Memorial VFW Post 7321. He is also a member of theMayfield-Taylor-McClain American Legion Post 551 and the Disabled AmericanVeterans. He was the ultimate veterans advocate who assisted hundreds ofveterans in the community to obtain their benefits from federal and stategovernments.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty Henney Weldon of LakeCharles; two daughters, Michelle (Randy) Guillory of Dallas, TX andShannon (Marlon) Marshall of Houston, TX; two sisters, Marie Rudd of LakeCharles and Josephine Clement of LaPlace, LA; one brother, Greg (Ella)Gauthier of Lake Charles; four adored grandchildren, Jordan and CameronMarshall of Houston, TX and Kirsten and Lauren Guillory of Dallas, TX; anda host of family and friends.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Service date: May 24, 2016
Visitation is from 7 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Combre Funeral Home in Lake Charles. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lake Charles. Burial with Military Honors will be in Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, LA.
