Obituary

Sulphur- Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Lee Gary, 58, will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., in the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Westlake, LA. The Rev. Madison Clark, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Perkins Cemetery in Westlake under the Direction of Combre Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church.

On Wednesday night, November 21, 2012, God plucked a flower from His garden and Sister Ruby Lee Gary heard the voice of Jesus saying, come and be at rest.

On Thursday, August 19, 1954 Cleveland and Sovelia Lee McCraney were blessed with a daughter, the third of seven children, whom they named Ruby Lee McCraney.  Ruby accepted Christ and was baptized at any early age by the late Rev. W.C. Clark at the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

Ruby served faithfully as a choir and church member until her illness.

On Friday, December 2, 1968 Ruby was united in Holy Matrimony to Patrick Gary.  Even though they never had any children of their own, God saw fit to bless them with three special nephews and a niece whom they raised and loved as their own; Devin (Traci), Oscar (Ramona), Cleveland and Sovelia McCraney along with an adoptive daughter Terri Jo Wells (Scott) and two special adoptive grandchildren, Justin and Ashlyn Freeland.

A native of Westlake, LA Ruby attended school in the Westlake and Mossville communities and had lived for the past 43 years in Sulphur, LA.

Mourning her departure are her devoted husband, Patrick Gary, seven sisters; Wanda Whitehead, Linda Reid (Todd), and Cynthia Gradney of Zion, IL, Catherine Brisett,  and Nellie Harton (John) of Baltimore, MD,  Bobbie McCraney of Westlake, LA and Ramona Gradney of Sulphur, LA, four brothers Cleveland McCrannery (Mary) of Manassas Park, VA, the Rev. Robert McCraney of Westlake, LA, Paul (Rosa) and Donald Gradney (Susie) of Sulphur, LA,  one aunt, Gloria Neville of Orange, TX, Two Brothers in Law, Robert Gary (Lacy) of San Jose', CA, and Leonard Gary (Eva) of Las Vegas, NV,  God Children; Leo Victorian (Lynn),  Tiffany Winkey (Antoine) and Ashlyn Freeland, Special Cousin and friend, Julia Victorian along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and step mother Lovenia McCraney
