LAKE CHARLES Ruby Nell Thierry, 74, died at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, in the local hospital. Ruby was a native of Opelousas, La., and she lived in Lake Charles, for 53 years.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur "Sonny" Thierry Jr.; two sons, Arthur "Poochie" Theirry and Mark Thierry; one daughter, Sonja Thierry, all of Lake Charles; her mother, Gladys Joseph of Opelousas; and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Victor "Rome" Thierry of Lake Charles.

Service date: August 17, 2016

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at New Sunlight Baptist Church, viewing will begin at 9 a.m. The Rev. Fred Shallow will officiate. Burial will be at Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Combre Funeral Home.
