Safay Lee Ford, daughter of the late Joseph Thibodeaux and Sadonya Thibodeaux was born on September 13, 1925 in Vinton, Louisiana. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ. She joined Mount Olive Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member for 74 years. At Mount Olive she served faithfully as a member of the mission ministry, church choir, as well as the Red Circle & Sunshine Band.
Safay was a devoted mother and seamstress amongst other things. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and reading her newspaper. She was a spiritual and caring woman who opened her home to anyone in need.
She was united in holy matrimony to Diverson Ford Sr. in 1945. This union was blessed with four children. Diverson preceded her in death in December of 1997.
Throughout her years, Ms. Ford served in a number of community organizations, such as ACORN, Reserve, and Calcasieu Parish AARP. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life Friday, February 1, 2019 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline Goins, son, Diverson Ford Jr., brothers-Forest Thibodeaux (aka "Uncle Thib"), Roy Thibodeaux (aka "Uncle Moody"), Clifton Thibodeaux (aka "Uncle T-Nathe"), Joseph Thibodeaux Jr. (aka "Uncle Soock") and two sisters, twin, Annacee Thibodeaux and Francis Harmon.
Safay leaves to cherish loving memories of her youngest sister- Beatrice Brown (Mack).
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Pamela Ford Joseph, Darrel Wayne Ford Sr. both of Lake Charles, La. ; 1 godchild, Joyce Miranda of Alameda, CA.; 12 grandchildren, Dwayne Gallien, Tyrone, Carmichael, Marcus, Rondterries, Brandon, Carlos & Ashley Joseph, Darrel Wayne Jr., Joy , Jessica, and Jeremiah Ford. She also leaves behind loving memories of 24 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
