Sam Stewart, Jr. was born on May 26, 1950 t o the late Essie Mae Simms Stewart & Sam Stewart, Sr. in Shreveport, LA. He departed this life surrounded by family on Sunday March 12, 2017 at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, LA.

Sam spent his early years in Natchitoches, LA. before moving to Denver, CO in his early 20s. There he worked he worked for Keebler Bakery for 26 years before retiring in 2001. After retiring from Keebler, Sam relocated to Lake Charles, LA. He began working for Isle of Capri Casino where he remained for 13-1/2 years before retiring for a second time in May 2016.

Sam leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife of 24 years Gayla Stewart, who he affectionately referred to as "Baby"; 3 daughters – Brandy Stewart of Gastonia NC, Allegra Lambert and Kellie Lambert both of Lake Charles LA; 1 son – Kendrick  Stewart of Seattle, WA; 1 sister - Kathy(Ralph) Lute of Denver CO; Nephew - Michael Sallier of Denver CO; 4 grandchildren – Deja Stewart of Aurora CO, Cyrus Stewart of Ellensburg WA, Evan(Danielle) Lambert and Dylan Lambert both of Lake Charles LA; 4 great grandchildren – Amir Walker of Aurora CO, Brennan Lambert, Bostan Lambert and Aydan Lambert all of Lake Charles LA; and a host of loving extended family and friends.
