Sandra R. Schexnider passed away on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, in Harbor Hospice in Lake Charles. She was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. Sandra earned a degree in psychology from Dillard University in 1975, was employed by the Calcasieu Parish CETA Program, Lake Charles public schools and the Lake Charles Housing Authority.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Ruth Mayfield Schexnider, and a brother, Alfred P. Schexnider.

She is survived by a son, Jordan A. Jacobs; longtime friend, Jake Jacobs of Lake Charles; three sisters, Lois Schexnider of Lake Charles, Louise (James) Graves of Jamaica, N.Y., and Manella (Ronald) Parker of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Thaddeus (Loretta) of Bayside, N.Y., Alvin (Virginia) of Chesapeake, Va., and Kenneth (Brenda) of Lake Charles; three aunts, Lillie Jones of Houston, Texas, Ethel Mayfield of Lake Charles, and Julie Mayfield of Long Beach, Calif.; sister-in-law, Ruth Schexnider of Wylie, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Service date: Nov. 20, 2014

Funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Clyde Thomas will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Combre Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
