Sarah Lee Pujo was born March 22, 1940 to Nolan and Magnolia Pujo in Lake Charles, La. She graduated from W.O. Boston High School in 1958. In 1959 Sarah met and married Charles Johnson in Los Angeles, CA. A daughter Patti, was born to their union.
She continued her education and graduated from Caly Business College (Los Angeles, CA) in 1962 with a degree in General Business: concentration (switch board and keypunch operation). She also attended The Automation Institute in 1968 (San Francisco, CA) and studied General Business. In 1977, she received a certificate in Drafting and Computer Programming from San Jose Vocational.
In 1989 Sarah married Hillie Alexander and lived in San Jose, CA until his death in 1992. She worked for Schlumberger Technologies for 35 years as a Software Technician, retiring in 1994. In 1995, Sarah relocated to her hometown of Lake Charles, La.
She was active in her church, Emmanuel Baptist Church in San Jose, CA and Greater St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Lake Charles. Sarah worked faithfully in church as a Sunday School teacher, Mission Director. She served on the Scholarship and Benevolent Committee, Trustee Board, Building Fund Committee, was active in the Women's Department and monthly visitations to the Detention Center. Sarah was also very active in her local community as a volunteer at Abraham's Tent, AARP, RSVP, Triad and Rosewood Nursing Center as an activities volunteer.
An avid traveler, Sarah visited all 50 states in the U.S.; the Caribbean, Paris and London.
On Friday, March 16, 2018 Sarah departed this life. She is preceded in death by her parents Nolan and Magnolia Pujo, sisters, Katherine Robinson and Thelma Pujo and nephews, Tilman Thompson and Nolan West.
Sarah leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter Patti Johnson Dorton (Gary deceased), niece Reverend Gaynell Breland (Cottriell), nephews Willie Thompson and Kenneth West along with numerous cousins, loved ones and friends.
