Obituary

Marie Sayretha Popillion Jordoin

March 7, 1933-August 20, 2026

Marie Sayretha Popillion Jordoin was born to Seron Popillion & Alexcina Popillion Popillion in Mallet, Louisiana on March 7, 1933, and peacefully departed this life on August 20, 2026. Marie Sayretha (known to all as Sayretha) was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and prayer warrior whose life was defined by faith, resilience, service and an extraordinary devotion to her Catholic faith and family.

Sayretha was a devoted Catholic and a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. She faithfully attended the 4:00 P.M. Mass as well as weekday Masses until her health no longer permitted her to attend.

During her earlier years she worked at Lake Charles Memorial starting in the Laundry Department and later in Patient Transport until her retirement. She also worked tirelessly at IHM’s annual Fall Bazaar, and any other church related activities. She visited the sick frequently to pray with them. She prayed the Rosary daily in French and was a proud member of the Christian Mothers Organization. She was a great cook, no matter what time of day or night someone appeared at the door she always had a meal prepared. When her children lived out of state and visited, she always had their favorite meals waiting. Even though she had been ill for quite a while she was always very jolly and never complained about it.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herman Jordoin, daughters Magda Lorena Jordoin, and Mary Jordoin Matthews, son-in-law Roy Jean Bushnell, six brothers and one sister.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her daughters, Willa Jean Jordoin Bushnell of Iowa, Dorothy Ann Jordoin (Kenneth) Robinson of Lake Charles, and one son, Anthony Jordoin of Lake Charles, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, one brother, John Batiste (Mary Lou) Popillion, many nieces, nephews and other family members.
