Shirley Margaret Walker was granted her angel wings on April 24, 2022. She was born in Lake Charles on February 26, 1945 to the union of William "Shag" Walker and Luella Beatrice Nichols "Big Boy" Walker. She was the only child but she grew up with a host of cousins and close friends. She attended Sacred Heart School and W. O. Boston High School where she was in the band, played basketball and was Miss Boston in 1960. She loved her high school and all her friends, being very active in all of the W. O. Boston reunion activities. She was also a debutante for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Shirley attended Dillard University in New Orleans, LA and attended Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, CA, with a degree in Sociology. She later married and from that union came two beautiful children, David Charles and Dondra Charmaine.

Shirley relocated back from Los Angeles to Lake Charles and was active with her church, Reeves Temple C.M.E Church, where she was a lifelong member. She was a member of the Prayer Choir, Trustee Board, Usher Board, Missionary Society, Sunday School, Lay Council, and the Pastor's Aide Board.

Shirley was a Social Worker in many different roles working for the State of Louisiana and several non-profit organizations in the Lake Charles Area.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed shopping, talking on the phone and anything related to her children and grandchildren.

Shirley was welcomed to her heavenly home by her parents; Aunts Tyra "Koot" Young and Hazel Walker Glover; Uncles Bura Walker, Elijah "Honey" Walker, and Charles "C.J." Young.

Shirley leaves her cherished memories with her two children, David Charles Butler of Lithonia, GA and Dondra Charmaine Butler of Pearland, TX; her grandchildren Devon (Alex) Butler and Devonte' Butler of Atlanta, GA, and Dominique Phills of Pearland, TX. She was loved by all her family and friends.
