Obituary

Stevens Ray Thomas (affectionately called "Stevie" by his mother and Lil' Steve by his motorcycle family), was born on November 24, 1960 in Thibodaux, Louisiana.  He was the sixth child born to the union of the late Jeff Thomas, Sr. and Georgia Picou Thomas.

He was baptized into the Baptist faith, and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.   At the age of nine, his mother relocated to Lake Charles, Louisiana.  He attended Calcasieu Parish Schools, where he played football at W. O. Boston High School.

Stevens received his high school diploma, and continued his education by completing an electrical apprenticeship program.  He was a vested member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 861 in Lake Charles, LA.  He earned his Master Electrician status from the State of Louisiana Board for Contractors. Stevens truly enjoyed the electrical field, and could not foresee doing anything else.  He developed a desire to further his education, so he enrolled in Kaplan University Online.  In 2011, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with an Associate Degree in Business Administration.  From there, he went on to open his own electrical business, Stevens R. Thomas, D. B. A. Electrical Contractor.

He met the love of his life, Kathy Ann Lewis in December 2007.   On March 21, 2014, they were married and became one.  From his union with Kathy, he gained two beautiful step-daughters, Meagan Renae' Beverly and Morgan J'Nae' Beverly, and one grand-princess, MaLaja DeSean Captain who loved him dearly.  Stevens was very well loved by his family.  He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

One of his favorite pastime activities was riding his motorcycle with his motorcycle Bros., traveling and spending time with his family.  He also loved to play dominoes, shoot pool, watch sports and the world news, and play golf.   He was always up to having a social gathering or a cookout at his house.

On February 19, 2017 at approximately 11:58 PM, our Lord and Savior decided that He needed another angel.  Stevens' name was called, and his earthly life came to an end.  The Lord took him by the hand and brought him to his Heavenly home to join his loved ones who had gone on before him.

Stevens was preceded in death by his father, Jeff Thomas, Sr; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Lewis; his father-in-law, Irving Lewis; one brother, Timmy Lee Thomas; one brother-in-law, Charles Anthony Lewis; and one sister, Mary Susan Guillory.

He leaves a wealth of memories with those who knew him and adored him, especially his wife, Dr. Kathy A. Lewis-Thomas; his mother, Georgia Picou Thomas; two step-daughters, Meagan Renae' Beverly and Morgan J'Nae' Beverly; one granddaughter, MaLaja DeSean Captain; two goddaughters Ja'Laia Moss; and Norri Levier.

He also leaves fond memories with his  brother, Jeff  (Pauline) Thomas, Jr. of Lake Charles, LA; three brothers-in-law, Horace J. Lewis, Sr. and Tony G. Lewis of Lake Charles, LA; and Ronald K. Lewis, Sr. of Bellflower, CA.; four sisters, Dana Thomas of Lake Charles, LA; Patricia Hartman of Houma, LA.; Monique "Kitten" Brown and Trinette Thomas of Vinton, LA; one sister-in-law, Shelia Hopkins (Michael Beasley) of Lake Charles, LA; and a very dear family friend, Doryce Polk of Natchitoches, LA, as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Donations can be made to the Stevens R. Thomas Scholarship Fund that is being established at City Savings Bank and Trust, 4850 Lake Street, Lake Charles, LA, for deserving students to major in an electrical program.
